Our story starts with simple lessons from my dad, a small-town pastor who lived what he preached. He taught us the value of living beneath our means, working hard, and saving a little at a time. One of my earliest “investment lessons” came around the age of 10. My Dad handed me an empty yogurt cup “The Bank”, and chore list with the associated reward “My Pay”. He then promised a nickel a day for every dollar I saved. It only took four weeks - I understood compound interest perfectly... Dad was completely out of nickels... and Mom never had a cleaner house.
